Decent product, some setup quirks

I purchased CrossOver Mac to run a couple of Windows-only productivity apps for work. The software itself is quite capable and does what it advertises, allowing me to avoid a full VM. The initial setup for some of my apps was a bit finicky; it wasn't always a one-click install, and I had to do some manual tweaking. The overall performance is good, though. It's not as fast as a native Windows machine, but it's completely usable. Shipping was digital, so that was immediate. Customer service was responsive when I had a question about one app's compatibility. Value is good considering the alternative of buying a Windows license or another computer. how does CrossOver compare to something like Parallels? I just need to run one specific old Windows app for work, no gaming.

For just one app, CrossOver is probably better. You don't have to install a whole Windows OS, which saves a ton of space and resources. Parallels is more for when you need a full Windows environment.

Totally different beasts. CrossOver just runs the app directly, no virtual machine. Parallels runs a whole Windows OS in a window. If it's just one app, CrossOver is much lighter weight and often faster.

I think for the standard licenses, it's usually one computer per license. Might depend on which tier you get though. Like the 'Life' one might be different.
